From the Scientific Point of View

Albert Einstein

Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.

"Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.  It is the source of all true art and all science.  He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."

Now he has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me.  That means nothing.  People like us, who believe in physics know that the distinction between past, present and  future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.

He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt.

He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

"A human being is part of a whole called by us,
"universe", a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

"Not everything that counts can be counted, and
not  everything that can be counted counts."

" (Sign hanging in Einstein's office at Princeton)

"Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the life-long attempt to acquire it."

Listening with the Heart

What does it mean to listen with the Heart?  How do you listen with the heart?

It means to clear your mind of judgement, analysis and preconceived ideas, dogma or propaganda and to listen in anticipation and in confidence as an innocent child would trust and listen to his parents.

"Unless you become like a child you cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven."  (The bible)

The Heart's language is - to borrow Forest Gump's words: "like a box of chocolates!"  There are no spoken words.  It is more like an angelic symphony without sound!

The truth is not reserved for the elite, the scholars, the sophisticated.  You are not precluded from knowing the Truth because you are not a Rhode scholar, or because of your social or your financial status.  If you are a "newbie" and know nothing about metaphysics you can still listen with your Heart.

When my grandchildren were very young I did an exercise with them at bedtime that gave them the experience of knowing that love comes from within.  I think that is a good place to start to know the truth imprinted in your heart.  The little booklet is entitled: "The Little Love Light" and it was published by Blurb.  It is now available through Pay Pal.

Many moons ago I went for a walk in the forest with four friends.  I approached the forest with an open heart, in anticipation of something good.  Upon entering the forest I immediately felt magic in the air. I do not have the words to describe the scene.  It was like opening the door to a magic kingdom.  It was so electrifying .  How could anyone miss it?  I expected my friends to be equally amazed.  I expected them to fall on their knees in exultation as typical emotional french people do but they kept on gabbing.  It just took my breath away.  I felt a peace so deep ...it was to me a cathedral of love.

"Peace already reigns over the world but men see it not".  Why?  Because they listen to the words of others.  They are led by doctrine, dogma and the rules of others whose aim is to be in control of others.  You are not likely to find the treasures of your heart if you are blinded by dogma.  Some "so-called teachers may have good intentions of saving you from hell.  They are not acquainted with the real message that is buried in their very own heart.

Listening to your Heart is the highway to heaven.  It will not "manifest" everything your heart desires.  It will not fill your pockets with gold.  It will take you to the higher ground of love and peace in your heart and the truth in your very own soul.

To be cut off from the Heart's wisdom is like seeing the world in one dimension.  It is like being the tree's shadow that tries to mimic the tree.  However, it can only rise at midday and die every night while the tree lives on.

A Soldier's Prayer

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve,
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey....
I asked for health, that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things....
I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
I was given poverty, that I might be wise....
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God....
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things....
I got nothing that I asked for -
but everything that I had hoped for,
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am among all men most richly blessed.
