Role of the Teacher

The role of the honest Teachers, like that of the profit of old, is to touch our tender places.  What is pain but the push to find Something Beyond?   Somewhere along the line we learn this slowly.  If we are fortunate, we find someone with the courage to tell us directly and honestly in words we can understand, in words that punch their way through our crust of selfishness and fear.  The Teacher within does not give us the smooth stone or the soft sound.  The Truth is not always gentle.
